Park Memorials - Donations

Huron Parks & Recreation offers community members the opportunity to donate memorials to loved ones within our park system, through the Huron Parks Foundation Fund.  Continuous improvements at the Lighthouse Pier and the "former Con-Agra" site have expanded the opportunity for citizens and civic organizations to sponsor a fitting, lasting memorial. As a general guideline, donations can be a Memorial Bench, other park amenity, or general memorial donations.

Lake Shore Electric Trail

Location:  West end of Jim Campbell Rd; adjacent to Huron High School Stadium (map).  Hours: Dawn to Dusk
Opened to the public in September 2013. The trail, named for its historical significance, is 1.2 miles long. The land was part of the Lake Shore Electric Railway, which operated an interurban electric railway from Cleveland to Toledo until 1939.

The 8-foot wide concrete trail is designed to serve walkers, runners and bikers. It increases community connectivity by providing pedestrian travel from Woodlands School to Huron High School Stadium at the base of the Rt. 6 overhead foot bridge. It also enhances pedestrian access to the city as well as to Fabens Park (via the foot bridge) and the neighborhoods to the north. Signage and additional trail amenities are planned for the future. The new trail was funded by a partnership of the City of Huron and Huron Township, through the Huron Joint Recreational District.

Mile Long Fishing Pier & Huron Lighthouse

The pier is heavily used for fishing year-round and is a popular site for walkers as well as birdwatchers; and is designated as one of Ohio's "hot spots" for birding--visit the Lake Erie Birding Trail website; follow the links to "Huron Harbor West Pier" for more information.
