FROM THE CHIEF OF POLICE
Welcome to the website of the Huron Police Department. Throughout the website, you will learn about our organization, our values, and the services we proudly provide to our community. The officers of the Huron Police Department are proud to serve the residents, visitors, and businesses of Huron. We provide 24-hour law enforcement and emergency services to all persons residing, working, or visiting the City of Huron. In addition to traditional police responsibilities, such as accident and criminal investigations, our officers engage in a wide variety of community policing activities.
The Huron Police Department values its commitment to service and commitment to its officers as we work to meet the needs of the community in the 21st century. Reducing crime has always been a high priority of the Huron Police Department. The use of various technologies and improving recruitment and training of our officers are vital components in maintaining this priority.
The primary mission of the Huron Police Department is to provide the citizens, visitors, and those that work in the City of Huron with the most efficient, effective, and professional law enforcement services possible in our ongoing efforts to protect life and property.
All members of the Huron Police Department are expected to perform their duties legally and professionally while respecting the Constitutional Rights of all people. We are dedicated to our Law Enforcement Code of Ethics as we recognize that adherence to the highest ethical standard is the basis of keeping the trust of the public. The most valuable resource we have are the officers of the Huron Police Department with whom I proudly serve and lead. We have a collective goal of “making a difference” in our community.
I believe one of the reasons why the City of Huron is a wonderful place to live, work, and enjoy recreation is because of the continuing relationships between the Huron Police Department and its community, a partnership that actively works to ensure a good quality of life and, above all, to keep the City of Huron safe. The community support for the Huron Police Department is second to none. We are committed to improving the quality of life in our city and have found the best way to make the City of Huron safer is to partner with our citizens to build understanding, partnerships, and to develop problem solving ideas.
